Richard Sarll will be taking a look at what’s been happening over the last year in marine claims before Courts and Tribunals in London including a review of key cases including NYK Orpheus/Panamax Alexander/NYK Falcon(2022) EWHC 2828 (Admiralty) and MSC Flaminia (No.2) [2023] EWCA Civ 1007.

Sandra Healy will review the case of Quadra Commodities v XL in a session titled “Can You Insure Something You Do Not Own?”.  It was one of three major cargo cases this year and Sandra will look at the implications for the market going forward, asking can you insure something that was never yours?
