7 King’s Bench Walk (7KBW) is delighted to announce that former New South Wales Court of Appeal judge The Hon. A J (Tony) Meagher SC has joined 7KBW as a door tenant.  He will accept appointments as an arbitrator in commercial, maritime and insurance disputes.

He offers a wealth of experience, having served as a judge on the New South Wales Court of Appeal for 13 years until his retirement in August (at the time of his retirement he was the senior puisne judge).  During the same period, he also sat on the New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal.

Prior to his time on the bench, Tony was a leading commercial silk in Australia and one of the foremost insurance and reinsurance law practitioners in the country. In his practice as a barrister and as a judge he was involved in the arguing or determination of many commercial cases extending over a broad range of subjects.

The Hon. A J Meagher SC commented “I am very pleased to join a Chambers which is, and for some time has been justifiably recognised as, one of the leading commercial sets in London. The Hon. A J (Tony) Meagher SC will also be appointed as an international judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court on 5 January 2025 for an initial period of two years.
