Clyde & Co, who instructed Clive Freedman QC and Neil Mendoza, won ‘Litigation Team of the Year’ Award at the Lawyer Awards 2015 for the case of Sebry v Companies House [2015] EWHC 115 (QB).  The citation dubbed the action a ‘David and Goliath’ case of Mr Philip Sebry against Companies House whose company of over a hundred years was driven out of business due to a negligent publication that it was in liquidation when this was not the case.  Clive Freedman QC succeeded in the argument that in these particular circumstances, a duty of care was owed by Companies House to identify the correct company in liquidation.
