On 5 May 2015, the first in a series of six seminars on the Insurance Act 2015 took place at Lloyd’s, hosted by the Lloyd’s Market Association and the International Underwriting Association.
Gavin Kealey QC was in the chair, and Harry Wright participated as a panel member. Both have been involved in the passage of the Act for some time, initially in advising the LMA/IUA on the various draft Bills produced by the Law Commission, and latterly in making representations to the Law Commission and to Parliament on their behalf.
More recently Harry Wright has (in conjunction with Clyde & Co, Ince & Co and Cooley LLP) drafted a comprehensive guide to the Act, for the use of LMA and IUA members. This is due for publication later in May.
The remaining seminars, all of which are over-subscribed by underwriters, claims and wordings staff working in the London market, will be chaired by Alistair Schaff QC, Andrew Wales QC and Peter MacDonald Eggers QC. This is testament to the great interest which members of Chambers are already taking in the Insurance Act 2015.
