David Edwards KC and Rebecca Sabben-Clare KC to examine “Insurance disputes in the face of global change and challenges” during LIDW25

4th Jun 2025, 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Herbert Smith Freehills LLP

David Edwards KC and Rebecca Sabben-Clare KC will be discussing “Insurance disputes in the face of global change and challenges” with Sarah McNally, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills and Solomonic CEO Edward Bird on Wednesday 4 June as part of London International Disputes Week 2025.

This will be a broad ranging discussion aimed at anyone who has an interest in contract and commercial disputes, whether in the High Court in England, courts elsewhere or through arbitral proceedings.  Why and how has insurance become such a key factor – whether directly or as a factor behind the scenes?  What do you need to know about it if you are involved in commercial litigation?

Our panel will discuss the extraordinary run of global events and developments over the past decade – the pandemic, wars and conflicts, wide-spread cyber attacks, losses connected to climate change and increasing insurance backed M&A risks.  We will explore how insurance is relevant to some or all of these risks, how insurance will be relevant to so many of the risks businesses will face in coming years, the approach of the courts (and arbitral tribunals) so far and what the data tells us about insurance disputes in English commercial litigation.
