This lecture evening will provide in depth analysis of these three important recent decisions in the law of marine insurance, examining their treatment of perils insured against.
Specific issues that will be considered:
• Malicious acts as an insured peril: meaning, scope and fitness for purpose
• Malicious acts: its relationship with other insured perils
• Piracy: can there be piracy without threat to life and limb?
• Can scuttling ever qualify as a war risk?
