Chambers is delighted to have won 5 awards, both individual and collective, at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2021 at an in-person ceremony in London.
The set was awarded the prestigious title of Set of the Year, and recognised for its sectoral expertise in Insurance Set of the Year.
Rebecca Sabben-Clare QC was acclaimed as Professional Negligence Silk of the Year; Stephen Hofmeyr QC was recognised as Shipping Silk of the Year, and Josephine Higgs received the Insurance Junior of the Year award.
Senior clerk, Greg Leyden, said: “I am delighted that 7 King’s Bench Walk has been recognised for its work, and on behalf of all members and staff of this set, I congratulate all the individuals recognised. These have been challenging times, but members and staff have risen to meet them, with, as these awards testify, considerable success. Such recognition will spur us on to continue to deliver the excellence in advocacy, legal advice, and administration that such awards represent.”
On the night, 7KBW won set of the Year and was introduced with the following: “Our chambers of the year has enjoyed success in a number of award categories this evening. A formidable all-round commercial set, it has once again shown its credentials by participating in some of the most important Supreme Court cases of the year. By way of example, it was on the winning side in Manchester Building Society v Grant Thornton, a key case concerning the scope of liability in professional negligence, and crucially fielded barristers on all sides in the FCA Business Interruption litigation, tackling matters of paramount importance to the insurance industry in the context of the Covid pandemic. Chambers and Partners set of the year 2021 is 7KBW.”
