Members of 7KBW are regularly instructed as counsel and appointed as arbitrators in international commercial, investor-state, and sports arbitrations.
As counsel, members of 7KBW represent corporations, sovereign states, and individuals in arbitral proceedings seated in London as well as in established and emerging arbitral centres across the globe. 7KBW’s members have extensive experience across institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. They are familiar with the rules and procedures of the major arbitral institutions (including the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, CAS, AAA, SIAC, DIAC, HKIAC, ARIAS, LMAA and UNCITRAL).
Their work spans a broad range of sectors, including energy, extractive industries, banking and finance, technology, sport, international trade, pharmaceuticals, aviation, insurance, and shipping. Many of these arbitrations concern disputes arising out of high-profile political or economic crises, corporate collapses, or major environmental hazards, and frequently engage questions of foreign or international law.
Members also have expertise across the whole spectrum of arbitration-related court proceedings, including applications for freezing orders and anti-suit injunctions, challenges to arbitral awards and enforcement proceedings. 7KBW’s members have appeared in some of the most significant arbitration cases before the English courts.
Members of 7KBW also sit as independent arbitrators in a wide variety of disputes. Some members of Chambers are full-time arbitrators and other members are also available to accept appointments. Our members frequently chair tribunals and are highly-regarded for their work in doing so; and members have worked with all of the leading arbitration institutions (as above) and also accept appointments on an ad hoc basis. Members regularly sit as arbitrators in London, but are also active internationally and have, in recent times, accepted appointments to tribunals sitting in Bermuda, Dubai, Geneva, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg, Lausanne, Munich, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, Stockholm, Sydney and The Hague, among other jurisdictions.
7KBW also has a dedicated Arbitration and Mediation clerking team to ensure confidentiality and separation of support whenever we have counsel on one or both sides and arbitrator(s) engaged in the same matter.
