Offshore litigation, arbitration and advisory work forms a core part of 7KBW’s commercial practice. Members are regularly instructed by leading offshore and international law firms acting for a wide range of clients from high-net-worth individuals, family offices, to multinational corporations.

Members of Chambers have substantial cross-border experience in key jurisdictions both offshore and midshore including the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Bahamas, Jersey, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, along with the Middle East and its free zones (including the DIFC and ADGM Courts). Various members of chambers are admitted to these jurisdictions on a full basis or have been on an ad hoc basis as necessary.

Members’ offshore cases are usually complex commercial matters with interlocutory applications and final hearings concerning international civil fraud, asset tracing, shareholder and company disputes, joint venture and partnership disputes, corporate insolvencies, professional liability claims, and enforcement of awards and judgments.

Members are often instructed on both the onshore and offshore elements of a case, and to assist clients in co-ordinating the various jurisdictions involved.

Offshore judicial and arbitral appointments

Members of Chambers are often considered for judicial office in leading offshore and midshore jurisdictions, reflecting their recognised experience in high-value commercial litigation, insolvency, trusts, regulatory matters and appellate advocacy. Members of Chambers are usually regularly appointed as arbitrators in offshore and midshore seated arbitral references on the full range of commercial work conducted by chambers.
