Patrick accepts instructions across all areas of commercial law. His recent and current instructions include:

Acting for a multinational in a civil fraud claim in the Commercial Court worth c. £100m.
Acting for reinsurers in a multimillion-pound Bermuda arbitration relating to an E&O policy.
Acting for a multinational seeking a permanent anti-suit injunction in the Commercial Court.
Acting for the respondent to a s. 69 arbitration appeal in the Commercial Court.

Before joining 7 King’s Bench Walk, Patrick was the Judicial Assistant to Lord Leggatt in the Supreme Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (2022-2023) and to Mr Justice Calver in the Commercial Court (2021-2022). He has therefore gained significant insight into both first instance and appellate proceedings from the judicial perspective.

Patrick also previously practised as a solicitor at a Magic Circle law firm working in commercial litigation and arbitration in London and Washington DC where he gained experience of large-scale commercial disputes, investor-State dispute settlement and SFO investigations.

Patrick holds an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages (Double First) and a postgraduate degree in Comparative Literature (Distinction, third in cohort), both from the University of Cambridge. He also holds an LLB from BPP University (First, third in cohort).

Patrick can work with documents in French and Spanish.

London International Exhibition Centre v RSA and Kaizen v HDI [2024] EWCA Civ 1026: Appeal relating to the construction of ‘at premises’ business interruption policies, exploring the wider implications of the FCA COVID-19 test case (assisting Keir Howie in pupillage).

Olam Global Agri Pte Ltd v Holbud Ltd [2025] EWHC 3187 (Comm): Acting for the respondent to a s. 69 appeal to the Commercial Court in relation to a GAFTA arbitration Award (led by Jason Robinson KC).
NTG Air v RBH: Appeared as sole counsel in the County Court in a summary judgment application seeking the dismissal of claims by claimant freight companies following the theft of cargo.

ED & F Man Capital Markets Limited v Come Harvest Limited [2022] EWHC 229 (Comm): A £300 million fraud involving the provision of forged warehouse receipts in a “repo” transaction for the sale and repurchase of nickel (as a Judicial Assistant, assisting Mr Justice Calver).
Advice concerning an appeal on jurisdictional issues under BVI law in relation to a US$230m civil fraud dispute (assisting Jason Robinson KC in pupillage).

Virgo Marine and Nixie Marine v Reed Smith and Barclays Bank: A claim for the recovery of funds held in escrow, raising allegations of breach of contract, professional negligence and the application of US sanctions (assisting Anna Gotts in pupillage).
Philipp v Barclays Bank [2023] UKSC 25: A landmark appeal considering whether banks owe a duty of care to their customers with respect to authorised push payment fraud (as a Judicial Assistant, assisting Lord Leggatt).
