Joshua accepts instructions across all areas of commercial law.

He acted in the Russian Aircraft LP Claims [2025] EWHC 1430 (Comm) and [2025] EWHC 2529 (Comm), which were some of the largest insurance claims ever brought before the English courts. He continues to act in other significant insurance disputes arising out of the war in Ukraine.

Joshua’s other recent and current instructions include:

  • acting and advising, unled, in relation to various commercial disputes (including one with a value of US$10 million) with arbitration in London and Singapore;
  • acting, successfully, for charterers in an LMAA arbitration involving allegations of dishonesty;
  • acting for a mining company in a very high value dispute involving allegations of bribery;
  • acting for insurers in a Bermuda Form arbitration (applying New York law) in relation to liabilities arising out of the opioid epidemic in the US; and
  • acting in relation to a dispute involving US sanctions.

Joshua has spent time seconded to a law firm in Singapore, where he was instructed on an investor-state dispute and assisted with submissions to the Singapore Court of Appeal on a novel point of law concerning the relationship between a seat court and an enforcement court: The Republic of India v Deutsche Telekom [2023] SGCA(I) 10.

Joshua is comfortable receiving instructions and documents in Mandarin Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, and Bahasa Indonesia.
