Aradhya Sethia

Aradhya practises in all areas of commercial litigation and international arbitration, including civil fraud, energy, international trade, banking and financial services, sports, competition law, sanctions, insurance, company law, intellectual property, and professional negligence. He also accepts instructions in commercial cases involving issues of public law and international law. He joined 7KBW as a tenant in September 2025 following the successful completion of pupillage.

Before coming to the Bar, Aradhya taught law at the University of Cambridge, where he also completed his PhD in Law as a Cambridge International Scholar. His legal scholarship has been cited (with approval) by apex courts, including the Supreme Court of India. Aradhya has also served as the Executive Director of the Cambridge Pro Bono Project, leading various research projects in the fields of public law, public international law, and sports law.

He read for the MPhil in Law at the University of Oxford on scholarship, and completed the LL.M. at Yale Law School as an Inlaks Scholar, serving as an Articles Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law and Resident Fellow at the Yale Information Society Project. His academic work has been published in some of the leading law journals.

He also holds a BA LLB from the National Law School, Bangalore, where he was awarded the Best Outgoing Student prize. He is qualified as an advocate in India, where he previously assisted two Justices of the Supreme Court and the Attorney General for India.

His current or recent instructions include:

• Commission Secretary to a Premier League Commission in The Premier League Board v Leicester City Football Club (chaired by James Drake KC), raising novel issues at the intersection of competition law and sports law.
• London-seated arbitration concerning war risk issues arising from hostilities in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (as sole counsel).
• A dispute involving alleged breach of sale agreements in the energy sector (led by David Allen KC).
• LCIA arbitration concerning breach of intellectual property licensing agreements (led by Jason Robinson KC).
• A commercial judicial review claim arising from the energy sector, engaging complex questions of domestic public law and public international law (led by David Allen KC).
• CIC GmbH v Edmund Truell & Another (Claim No.: LM-2026-000045, High Court): successfully obtained summary judgment for CIC, enforcing a guarantee under debt restructuring arrangements (as sole counsel).
• An UNCITRAL arbitration arising from the breach of a procurement contract by a leading international organisation (as sole counsel)
• Various ongoing matters in the County Court and London-seated arbitrations (as sole counsel).
