7KBW will be hosting a networking breakfast and presentation for the second London Arbitration Week on Tuesday 1 December at the IDRC.
Geopolitical instability, economic sanctions, armed conflicts, supply chain disruption and other global shocks are increasingly shaping the disputes that come before international tribunals and national courts. As parties invoke force majeure, frustration and related contractual doctrines in response to rapidly changing circumstances, does international arbitration offer a more effective forum for resolving these complex cross-border disputes than litigation?
Our panel will debate whether arbitration’s procedural flexibility, confidentiality and international enforceability make it better suited to resolving major disputes or whether national courts remain better placed to provide legal certainty, develop the common law, and address disputes with significant public policy or sovereign dimensions.
With audience participation encouraged throughout, this session will offer a lively and thought-provoking examination of how dispute resolution must adapt to meet the challenges of an increasingly uncertain world.
Where: International Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC), 1 Paternoster Ln, London EC4M 7BQ
